Half-price rail card will stay - despite rumours

Confusion spread yesterday over the future of Switzerland’s popular half-fare travel card.

Reports in the German-speaking press suggested it would disappear by 2027 and be replaced by a new system called “My Ride.”

But the SwissPass Alliance quickly denied the claim, confirming that the half-fare option will remain in place.

The new digital fare model, planned for 2035, aims to simplify a system that currently includes thousands of ticket types.

Authorities say the goal is to make public transport easier to use, not more expensive, and that a half-fare offer will continue in some form.
