An electric hand sanitizer triggered a fire in a school in Davos, causing major damage.
The Swiss Alpine Middle School in the Graubünden town will need major renovation after the blaze.
The police say they believe the batteries in the device overheated, causing the container with the disinfectant to melt which then leaked over the batteries, starting the fire.
Although the fire was quicky put out – the burning fluid left soot all over the building. It’s estimated the clean-up work will cost tens of thousands of francs.
No one was hurt – investigations are continuing.
