The heavy snow has raised avalanche risk in all mountain areas across the county.
In all areas, apart from southern Ticino, the risk is officially classed as either ‘considerable’ or ‘high’.
The worst hit regions are areas of Valais – which include Verbier and Arolla – and Graubünden and the regions of Davos, Klosters and Lenzerheide.
The warnings from the Institute of Snow and Avalanche Research say it won’t take much to trigger a fall. They say it could be a single skier or simply a noise.
Forecasters say there’s been an unusually large amount of snow in the mountains for this time of year – almost twice as much.
