A security cordon was thrown up around the Hilton Hotel in Grand Saconnex last night because of an event being held by the French right-wing journalist, Eric Zemmour.
The writer has been prosecuted several times for hate speech and incitement against Muslims.
Around 2,000 protestors marched in the city against his visit – while 300 guests entered the hotel to hear him speak.
The bomb squad reacted to several threats to check for devices – none were found.
Zemmour is keeping his options open about running for the French presidency. He has to announce his candidacy by December 5th.
