The trial in Geneva of the wealthy Hindjura family, accused of mistreating their domestic workers, has not yet started and the family are using delaying tactics.
The main defendants, the husband and wife aged in their 70s, still haven’t appeared in court. They claim they’re too ill to travel and remain in Dubai.
Their lawyers are calling for the judges to recuse themselves – claiming they’re harassing the defendants.
The prosecution says the tactics show the contempt the family is accused of against their workers is now being focussed on the court.
The law allows for the trial to go ahead without the defendants – but that won’t happen before March.
