A new transport plan worth half a billion francs for the Greater Geneva region has been sent to Bern.
It’s hoped the Confederation will stump up 40% of the cost.
The main projects include a new cross border tram line into Ferney-Voltaire and the extension of the line that already enters France will go deeper into the middle of Annemasse.
Hopes are high Bern will give the projects the green light. It’s reported federal authorities are impressed at how much the Annemasse tram line is being used. It carries 8,000 a day.
If successful, work will start in 2024. It will take the federal government two years to make a final decision.
