This hot weather is dangerous, and the Federal Office of Meteorology is issuing warnings for two reasons – ultraviolet levels and storms.
The office points out that UV levels are high at the moment, and even higher at altitude as the atmosphere is thinner.
But the main alert is for storms. There are warnings in force today for central and eastern cantons – such as Bern, Uri, Nidwalden, Obwalden and Graubunden.
Strong lightning with heavy rain is expected between 11am and 9pm.
The storms will drop the temperatures for a while – but more hot weather is coming from Saturday.
June is set to become the second hottest on record – with a major heatwave to end the month.
