A Geneva disability rights group has submitted a popular initiative calling for the full inclusion of children with disabilities in mainstream schools.
The proposal gathered more than five thousand signatures, exceeding the required threshold.
Backers say it’s the first successful initiative of its kind in Switzerland.
The plan calls for the canton to guarantee equal access to education, in line with international commitments, with a ten-year transition period.
Authorities will now review its validity before it goes to parliament and potentially a public vote.
