Italy is tightening its rules for entry into the country. From today anyone wishing to visit will have to show a health pass and a negative test. Those without tests will have to quarantine for 5 days.
The rules apply to all those coming in from the EU and Switzerland. There were already restrictions for third countries.
Also, the Italian government says the validity of the health pass will but cut from 12 months to 7. To extend that date, a booster will be needed.
There are exemptions for those living close to the border or for frontalier workers.
