The Jura mountains have a new highest peak, according to researchers from Lausanne’s Institute of Earth Sciences.
Two peaks have historically held the record – the Crêt de la Neige and the Reculet, both measure at 1,718 metres.
But there’s a new peak, named J1 by the researchers. It’s been measured 2.75 metres higher.
It’s thought the peak has been hidden as its surrounded by trees, making exact measurements difficult.
