A boat carrying 14 people has capsized on Lake Geneva, triggering a major rescue operation off the French shore near Évian
The vessel overturned late on Saturday evening, around a kilometre off the commune of Lugrin. Nearly 50 firefighters were mobilised in difficult conditions to bring everyone safely back to the Port des Mouettes in Évian-les-Bains.
Remarkably, no one on board was injured, and none needed hospital treatment after being checked over. The wreck has been secured along the shore and will be recovered in the coming hours by a specialist company.
