Car theft is up, according to new data from insurer AXA, which says reported cases are now higher than before the pandemic.
The company says stolen vehicles are also becoming more expensive, with the average payout reaching nearly CHF 14,000 in 2025, compared with around CHF 10,000 over the past decade.
AXA says high-end cars are now being targeted more often, pushing overall compensation costs to almost CHF 5m last year, nearly double pre-pandemic levels.
French-speaking Switzerland is the most affected region, with Vaud and Geneva among the hardest hit.
