A man is going to jail for five years after causing the death of a passenger in his car following what was described as an ‘insane overtaking maneuver’.
The then 19-year-old decided to pass a slow-moving vehicle by driving through a layby on a small section of the A4 in canton Zurich. On the exit, he lost control of the vehicle, colliding with an oncoming car.
A passenger died, another was critically injured. He was also over the alcohol limit.
The crash was in November 2017.
His defence argued he is of limited intelligence.
The man was in court in Andelfingen. He accepted the decision with no visible emotion, according to reports.
