Three men are facing stiff fines for trying to smuggle in a thousand litres of beer from France though the border at Anières in canton Geneva.
A spot check by border guards on Monday on two Swiss registered vans, driven by two 24-year-olds with one 19-year-old passenger, ruined their plans.
In addition to the non-declared beer – the men had overloaded the vehicles.
The drivers now face charges of smuggling and incorrect loads for the vans.
