An unauthorized pro-Palestine demonstration in Basel on Wednesday evening led to clashes with police.
Around 300 people marched from De Wette Park toward the train station, ignoring police orders to stop.
When demonstrators broke through a cordon at Centralbahnplatz, police fired rubber bullets to block access to the station.
Tram traffic was halted for about an hour. The protest later moved through the city center, where garbage containers were set on fire and fireworks set off, causing further property damage before the crowd eventually dispersed.
