New covid strain circulating

Doctors are worried that a new covid variant could create problems this summer – but still, it won’t lead to lockdowns.

There have already been warnings about the FLiRT strain – which was first detected in the United States but is now in this country.

But that’s now dividing into other strains and the KP2 version seems to be highly transmissible.

The Federal Health Office says that wastewater analysis is showing an increasing trend of covid – and infections are up.

Experts say one of the reasons for that will be that people’s immunity is beginning to fade.

But they do say there’s no need to panic as it doesn’t seem to create worse symptoms.
