A brand-new Geneva school is already full.
Forty-four children aged nine and ten at Vernier's École de l'Étang have just learned they must move to the more distant Balexert school in August.
Parents are furious with the news, and also infuriated as they heard about the decision from their children, who were told before them.
Balexert is itself over capacity, with some classes housed in modular pavilions.
Geneva's education department says the move is exceptional and was coordinated with the commune, but parents have filed a complaint and launched a petition.
