Two years after Switzerland launched its healthcare cost roundtable, the latest package of six new measures still comes without any savings figure attached
Health minister Elisabeth Baume-Schneider presented the plan in Bern on Monday after the fifth session with insurers, hospitals and authorities.
The ministry calls these measures "more systemic" — covering ambulatory care, emergency room congestion, chronic illness, medical device prices, nursing home medicine supply and home treatments.
If they work, officials say they will outperform the first package valued at over CHF 300 million.
The announcement comes just weeks after insurers confirmed another 5% premium rise for 2027 — pressure on households is not easing.
