If you get a drone for Christmas this year – new rules will apply from January 1st.
Switzerland is adopting the EU regulations which means in many cases you will need a permit to fly.
If the drone weighs over 250 grams – or has a camera installed – you’ll have to register with the Federal Office of Civil Aviation.
You will also need liability insurance to cover at least CHF 1m of damages.
There are limits on how close you can fly to people and private buildings.
One advantage of Switzerland adopting EU rules, any drone permit issued by any other EU nation will be valid.
All details are available on the Swiss Federal Office of Civil Aviation website.
