Summer has arrived, with temperatures climbing past 30 over the long weekend. Basel reached 31 and Sion hit 32.4, but MeteoSwiss, says this does not yet count as an official heatwave.
That label requires an average daily temperature of at least 25 degrees across three consecutive days, and cooler nights kept the weekend below the threshold.
More days above 30 are forecast across French-speaking Switzerland this week. MeteoSwiss calls the early warmth exceptional, but not a record.
