While we’re all trying to avoid catching a virus – one infection is being actively encouraged in Geneva. Chickenpox.
One nursery in the city is suffering a breakout and doctors say the kids should all stay together and all get it.
It’s well known that chicken pox is relatively harmless in children – but can be a problem if caught by adults. Once a child has it, the antibodies offer protection for life.
There are diseases that have to be reported to the authorities if detected at schools, such as whooping cough and measles.
But Dr Fabienne Toutain from the paediatric health service says chickenpox is different and spreading should be encouraged.
The nursery won’t be closed.
