A driver has been fined only CHF 2,000 for causing the death of a new born baby in canton Aargau.
The accident happened at Christmas in 2016 – but a district court has just announced its verdict.
The 38-year-old driver says he suffered a ‘microsleep’ at the wheel and momentarily lost control. He hit a mother with two small children on the sidewalk.
The mother and a one-year-old was seriously injured - the 3-week-old baby died.
The man told the court he’s devasted by the accident.
Judges said the accident was truly tragic and there are only losers.
The driver will also have to pay compensation and the court costs.
