The foundation that’s in charge of the renovation of the historic Plaza cinema in the centre of Geneva say the damage from last week’s fire is not as bad as feared, although it is significant.
Work will start this weekend to make the damaged structure safe for the renovators.
Tomorrow a 30-meter-long crane will be installed to secure the roof.
This will cause some traffic disruption as there’ll be local road closures from midnight tonight.
The Plaza cinema was first opened in 1952, but has been closed for many years. It’s being turned into a cultural centre.
