Police in canton Schwyz are involved after someone put rat poison in a woman’s garden as she was feeding the birds.
The woman says some of the neighbours have complained in the past that the birds make too much noise.
While she spotted the poison in the garden – it was too late for at least two birds. The woman told the local press that one died in agony in her hands.
Police confirmed rat poison was the cause.
The cantonal wildlife manager, Manuel Wyss, says it’s not a trivial offence. Animal welfare laws mean the perpetrator could be jailed.
