The government is proposing a path to reallow large events. The idea would be to permit events with up to 3,000 people from July and then 10,000 from September.
The government would also underwrite costs if health conditions mean an event has to be cancelled once it had already been authorized. It would allow organisers to start planning with a safety net.
Those attending are likely to have to show a certificate to prove they’ve been vaccinated, or recovered from covid or have a negative test.
Those under 16 would be exempt.
The idea is not finalized. The plan is being sent to the cantons for consultation. A decision could be made by mid-May.
But organisers say it’s now too late to save many events this year which have already been cancelled.
