Post Bus to bring in private security

The Post Bus network says it needs more security on its weekend and night-time services.

The transport company wants to put guards on some buses and to patrol bus stops to prevent vandalism.

The Post Bus network carries more than 350,000 people every day – but there can be issues when it carries those partying at weekends.

It’s spending CHF 3m on private guards. They will be able to check ID documents and throw people off the bus if necessary.

But unlike the SBB transport police – they won’t have powers of arrest, beyond normal citizen arrest rights.
