The post office has revealed a list of branches it says need to close to make sure costs are controlled.
This has been threatened for some time, but this is the first time the management has revealed which branches are under threat.
The French speaking region seems to be disproportionately affected. 19 in canton Vaud will go, and 5 in Geneva.
The most affected canton is Bern, which will lose 25 offices.
The post office says those earmarked for closure showed customer use fell by half between 2020 and 2023. Also, over the counter payments have fallen by nearly 70%.
The post office says it will be looking for partners, such as local shops, that could also offer some of the post office's services.
