Post Office to close branches

The Post Office says it will close 170 branches – that’s around one in five.

Currently it’s unknown which branches maybe affected – the Post Office says it will let staff know at the end of next month.

The law says that there has to be a branch available to 90% of the population within 20 minutes of either walking or public transport. That would make it seem that urban offices are most under threat.

There are plans to have more postal agencies – a mini branch that’s in a shop – and boost its home service, which would allow for parcel pick up.

At the same time, it says it will invest in the remaining branches to modernize them
