It’s been confirmed that the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, will attend the World Economic Forum’s meeting in Davos in a few days.
Zelensky’s attendance in Davos is not particularly controversial as it’s a private event, but suggestions he will also visit the Federal Palais and meet the Federal Council in Bern while in the country are raising questions.
Is it right a president of a country which is at war should be welcomed by a neutral country?
Zelensky’s video conference with a parliamentary session in 2022 was controversial. Many members of the right-wing Swiss People’s Party boycotted the event.
But others also suggest that Swiss neutrality means that it should not refuse a discussion with any state.
