Restaurants in city centres are suffering due to the change in working practices and a clamp down on traffic.
Eateries in Bern and Fribourg are reporting similar problems. More people are working from home, so not coming into town and, in Fribourg especially, new parking restrictions and a blanket 30 kph speed limit is dissuading travel into the centre.
Restaurant owners say they’re seeing a drop of 30% in sales for midday service.
The head of GastroFribourg, Philippe Roschy, says he predicts next year will be difficult for the sector.
