Fear of reprisals is keeping many residents in Thônex indoors during the evening.
A week ago, an 18 year old was stabbed to death in the center of the commune.
Locals say young people are staying in and it seems the area is under a curfew. They add there are rumours the young man’s family are in search of revenge. The Tribune de Genève reports the family of the alleged killer are under police protection.
In a sign of the tension, the police have been called out to the area several times over the past few days.
