A hiker had to come to the rescue of a goat herder who was being attacked by a billy goat.
Local Benedikt Nardin was walking with his dog near Zermatt in canton Valais when he saw the shepherd on the ground trying to fend off the powerful animal. He had gripped it by its horns and was screaming for help.
When Benedikt and his golden retriever arrived, the goat backed away – afraid of the dog.
Shortly afterwards, three police officers arrived. The goat then started to attack them, they fended it of with their batons. One was injured.
The Zermatt Tourist Office says the goat was acting aggressively as it’s mating season and assure other hill walkers that the animal has been separated from the herd.
