A little bit of normality returns today. Shops are allowed to re-open, as are museums and libraries.
Also, outdoors leisure activities can open – including zoos and sports facilities.
Up to 15 people can meet outdoors and those under 20 can take part in organised sporting events.
But it’s not a complete opening. Limits on the number of people meeting indoors remains – that’s 5 – large events are still banned and workers are asked to work from home if they can.
Bars and restaurants remain closed, that will be re-examined on the 19th which may mean a limited opening from the 22nd.
The government is stressing the lighter rules doesn’t mean not wearing masks and maintaining a distance of 1.5 meters between people.
