Several communities in central parts of the country were startled in the early hours of yesterday morning after the sirens went off.
The cantonal police in Schwyz confirmed the sirens sounded in seven municipalities in the middle of the night – one local told the Blick newspaper that he thought war had been declared.
The alarms only sounded for a few seconds – the reason for the false alarm is now being investigated.
