Ski resorts are celebrating as numbers are returning to pre-pandemic levels. The exceptional weather last month helped make up for a poor January.
The main skiers were local – it’s taking a little longer for international visitors to come back, but much of that is likely down to the strength of the franc – according to Pierre Mathey, director of the Valais Mechanical Lift company.
This is having more of an effect on the prestigious resorts such as Verbier and Zermatt.
Despite the pleasing number of visitors this season, it’s still not enough to make up for the previous two seasons which were badly hit by Covid rules.
There are hopes many resorts will be able to stay open for Easter, which is late this year, and maybe even beyond.
