Yesterday’s snow caught many by surprise in Geneva and triggered numerous accidents on the road.
Police say there were 26 incidents before 6pm. They say the main reason was motorists not leaving a sufficient gap between vehicles. Many were also found to be poorly equipped for winter by not having the right tyres.
Motorcyclists were also caught out – as the snow had not been forecasted.
The weather also affected public transport as buses and trams were caught up in the delays – and some bus routes were changed.
It was similar in Vaud, cantonal police say there were also several accidents across the canton and police advise to stay off the road if you can.
