A snowboarder has died after falling into a crevasse in Saas-Fee in canton Valais.
The 39-year-old French national was with a friend when the accident happened on Wednesday morning.
The victim fell several meters into the deep crack in the ice while the pair were off-piste.
Valais police say the doctor on the air ambulance declared the man dead at the scene.
An investigation is underway.
