Stolen cello recovered

A valuable cello stolen in Geneva a couple of months ago has been recovered, undamaged.

It’s the instrument used by the renowned Ophélie Gaillard. It was taken overnight in September.

It was made in 1737 and valued at over a million euro – but in reality, it’s unsellable.

The police found it in an apartment in Saint-Julien-en-Genevois. Three suspects aged between 25 and 45 have been arrested.

The cello was found with its two bows – worth EUR 45,000 each.

The cello is actually owned by a bank – which lends it to Gaillard.
