The World University Winter Games has been cancelled with just 12 days before its start, despite 7 years in the planning.
Several events with students from all over the world were planned across central Switzerland.
It was expected around 1,600 would compete from 50 countries. Organisers said with the isolation requirements, it was becoming impossible to hold the games.
The decision is a massive blow to the hotel industry, especially in Lucerne.
