Swiss ambassador causes stir

The Swiss ambassador to Iran is being criticized for wearing a traditional headscarf while on a visit to a shrine in the city of Qom.

The strict Islamic country has been rocked in recent months because of demonstrations by Iranian women fighting the forced wearing of headscarves.

Many feel the actions of the ambassador, Nadine Olivieri Lozano, is only helping the regime.

But she is being supported by Bern. The foreign ministry says she was observing a clothing protocol for women at a well-known religious site.

But a Swiss based Iranian activist, Saghi Gholipour, told the Blick newspaper that it gives the regime added legitimacy.
