Swiss motorcyclist Noah Dettwiler has had a life-threatening crash at the Motorcycle Grand Prix event in Sepang, Malaysia this weekend.
Before the Moto3 event even began, there was a collision between the Solothurn-born rider and Spanish Moto3 World Champion Jose Antonio Rueda, who escaped with minor injuries.
Reports suggest that the 20-year Swiss rider, who is now in hospital in Kuala Lumpur, has suffered multiple cardiac arrests, concussion and an open leg fracture.
Speaking to the Blick newspaper, Dettwiler’s parents said their son’s condition was very serious and they began their journey from Solothurn to Kuala Lumpur on Sunday to be with him.
