Voices in the Swiss watch industry are calling for a new '100% Swiss made' label to distinguish fully home-produced timepieces from those partly manufactured in Asia
Under current law, a watch can carry the 'Swiss made' stamp with just 60% Swiss value added.
Some makers producing 95% locally reportedly refuse the label altogether.
The Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry doubts a stricter label is workable, calling the 60% threshold a hard-won political compromise.
