Switzerland slips in ranking

Switzerland has slipped to third place in the IMD's annual global competitiveness ranking, and the Lausanne-based business school's president is warning against complacency

David Bach says Switzerland's economic performance has dropped sharply, falling to 37th place in that category.

International investment has tumbled 35 places, and Bach argues Swiss pension funds invest barely 0.02% of their assets in venture capital.

That forces homegrown start-ups to seek funding in the United States, and risks pushing Swiss innovation abroad too.

Bach is urging bolder moves on artificial intelligence, electronic identity and the energy transition.
