Tackling the 'manosphere'

Justice Minister Beat Jans has called on Swiss schools to confront the rise of the online "manosphere" — the digital ecosystem spreading misogynistic ideas to young men

Speaking in Bern on Monday at a seminar for progressive men's groups, Jans said he was ashamed as a man and worried as a father about male violence.

Experts from the University of Zurich warn the manosphere exploits real needs among boys to spread hierarchical and misogynistic world views.

The federal councillor wants prevention work introduced at school level before extremist content takes hold.
