New technology is stopping those who try to use the car-pooling lane at the Thonex-Vallard border.
Since 2018, there’s been a dedicated lane for cars carrying more than one person. But many single drivers have been slipping through.
And it’s been getting worse – recently it’s actually been a majority of cars.
Now there’s a barrier and a camera which can tell how many occupants there are – and if it’s more than one, the barrier will lift.
If the barrier stays closed, the driver is forced back into the main queue.
