This time it’s very likely to happen. The Federal Council is expected to extend the use of the vaccine passport to more venues – such as bars, cinemas, indoor swimming pools and other cultural and social centres.
The press is reporting the Health Minister, Alain Berset has submitted the new rules to the council. They will debate the proposal at their regular meeting today.
It’s thought the government will vote in favour. The only opposition is expected to come from the members of the Swiss People’s Party - Guy Parmelin and Ueli Maurer.
Government sources are also suggesting the certificate could be compulsory for some workplaces.
If passed the rules are likely to come into force on Monday.
