The head of the Swiss Cantonal Doctor’s Association says he expects a new Covid wave in the autumn which will exceed the one in January.
He warns the virus has not gone away and is likely to become a seasonable event.
Rudolf Hauri adds the current official figures of around 30,000 a day is likely to be an underestimate.
In an interview with yesterday’s NZZ newspaper, he says current virus activity is very high and he expects hospital admissions to start to rise again.
He’s recommending the mask requirement for public transport to stay for the rest of the month.
But he does say the level of protection is good with vaccinations and previous infections so the hospitals should not find themselves under the same pressure as before.
