A simple traffic light failure brought a town in canton Aargau to a standstill.
During evening rush hour on Wednesday, one set of lights all turned red – and refused to change for an hour.
The misbehaving lights clogged a major junction as cars were stuck in the middle as they all tried to get through.
An hour after the failure, the police, helped by the fire department, managed to clear the clog and directed the traffic by hand.
One bus passenger said they were stuck on board for more than an hour and weren’t allowed to leave as it wasn’t at a stop.
