Traffic will be heavy this Easter weekend

The traffic over the long easter weekend is likely to be heavy and could set a new record.

The motoring organisation, the TCS says it expects traffic using routes heading south to canton Ticino to start to build on Thursday.

Last Easter, the queues were the second busiest since the Gotthard tunnel opened in 1980.
Canton Uri at the northern end of the tunnel is likely to close some autoroute entrances near the tunnel’s entrance in an effort to stop attempts to jump the queue.
