A key route for the future double-track expansion of the Geneva-Lausanne rail line has been approved.
The Federal Office of Transport and the SBB have signed off on a 13-kilometre stretch between Morges and Perroy, three quarters of it in a tunnel.
Once opened, trains between Geneva and Lausanne could run every 15 minutes, that’s twice the current rate.
Public consultation is due in 2033 and service is not expected before 2043.
